About our Firm

In 1983, Scott D. Shapiro left Price Waterhouse to join the firm of Harvey Kaufman, CPA. Scott knew early in his career that he wanted to provide high quality accounting and tax services to small and mid-sized businesses and individuals. He believed the best way to accomplish that goal was to join a small, local accounting firm. After forming the partnership of Kaufman & Shapiro, CPAs in 1986, they moved to the Office Court in Ramsey, New Jersey, where the firm is still located.

In 1994, they merged their practice with Mark S. Weber, CPA, another Price Waterhouse Alumni, to form Kaufman, Shapiro & Weber, CPAs. Harvey Kaufman retired from the firm the following year. The firm name was changed to Weber & Shapiro, CPAs, and later to Weber, Shapiro & Company LLP. Since its formation, Weber, Shapiro & Company has grown considerably, through referrals, by providing outstanding services to small- to mid-sized businesses and individuals.

Meet our Partners

Mark S. Weber, CPA, PFS, CFS

Mark S. Weber, partner, began his career with the accounting firm of Price Waterhouse in 1981. Mark is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New Jersey Society of CPAs. He has acted as the Financial Planning Committee Chairman, Federal Tax Committee Chairman, and Newsletter Chairman for the Bergen County chapter of the New Jersey Society of CPAs. Although he has extensive experience in all aspects of taxation, Mark prefers to focus on individuals and small businesses and also has significant expertise in the area of business valuation. Mark holds the AICPA Personal Financial Specialist designation (PFS) and is a Certified Fund Specialist (CFS). Mark has been a member of the Allendale Foundation for Educational Excellence, Inc. for the past six years where he has been Treasurer for three years and President for two years. He has been a two year Treasurer of Temple Beth Haverim in Mahwah, New Jersey. Mark has also served one year as a general board member and one year as Treasurer for Rebuilding Together Bergen County. He resides in Allendale, New Jersey with his wife and two sons.

Scott D. Shapiro, CPA

Scott D. Shapiro, partner, began his career with the accounting firm of Price Waterhouse in 1981. Scott has extensive experience in business consulting with over twenty years experience in advising clients on financial and business matters. He also manages our accounting practices and outsourcing department, which provides small and medium-sized businesses a full array of professional services. Scott is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New Jersey Society of CPAs.He is an active member of the community, as a youth athletic coach and as a previous member of the Board of Trustees for the U.S.R. Baseball Association. He currently serves as treasurer for The Circle of Life Children’s Center in Newark, New Jersey, a non-profit organization caring for children with life-limiting illnesses. He is also the chairman of the Audit Committee for the Westport Country Playhouse, a non-profit theatre located in Westport Connecticut. He currently resides in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey with his wife and two sons.

Meet our Professional Team

Marina Cianchetta CPA

Marina is a graduate of Montclair State University (magna cum laude) with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting.  She is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s and the New Jersey Society of CPA’s.  Prior to joining W&S, Marina has in excess of ten years’ experience with two medium size accounting firms.  Marina has experience in all areas of taxation; including corporate, partnership and individual.She also has extensive experience in all levels of attest services and financial statement preparation; including compilations, reviews and audits.  Marina resides in Woodland Park, NJ with her husband and two children.

Carole Grisafi, CPA, CFP, CSA

Carole is a graduate of Boston University and has spent most of her career in all areas of taxation. She has worked in both private and public accounting and also state government. In 2000, Carole became qualified as a Certified Financial Planner. In 2005, Carole passed her exam to become a Certified Senior Advisor. In addition to her work at the firm, she also handles all aspects of a family owned business with numerous real estate holdings in the northern New Jersey area. Carole and her family have resided in Woodcliff Lake for over twenty-four years.

Douglas W. Hall CPA, JD

Doug comes to W&S with many years of diversified tax, legal, and business experience.  After graduating from law school and spending some time working in a major law firm, Doug spent several years working on Wall Street as a securities analyst and investment manager.  After deciding to attend graduate school and sit for the CPA exam, Doug began a career in public accounting.  Doug has extensive experience in individual taxation, partnerships, corporate taxation, corporate multistate and interstate commerce, and comprehensive tax research and planning.  Doug received his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and his JD and Graduate Certificate in Accounting from Pace University.  Doug resides in White Plains, New York.

Nancy E. Novak, CPA

 Nancy has over twenty years of extensive tax experience specializing in trusts, estates, and individuals.  Nancy’s experience includes the preparation and review of all federal and state estate, inheritance, gift, trust tax returns and court accountings.  Nancy comes to W&S from a top national accounting firm and has also worked for a “blue chip” law firm.  Nancy received her accounting degree from William Paterson University, Magna Cum Laude, National Dean’s List and her Masters of Accountancy in Professional Taxation from The Rutgers University Graduate School of Management & Rutgers Law School.  Nancy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Public Accountants.  Nancy and her family reside in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey.

Irwin Orenstein, CPA

Irwin Orenstein is the Managing Director, leading our consulting and advisory practice. He provides our clients with a competitive edge through his strategic business insights coupled with his operational planning, implementation, and assessment skills. His strategic and tactical skills were honed through broad based, hands-on operational, team building and cost control assignments as a CFO, divisional business manager, project manager, controller, consultant, and auditor. Prior to joining Weber & Shapiro, Irwin was a managing director with one of the world’s largest international investment banks and the CFO and business manager of one of its major global subsidiaries. Irwin is a CPA with “big 4″ consulting experience. Irwin, his wife and two children reside in Allendale, New Jersey.
